Curriculum relevance refers to the alignment and applicability of an educational curriculum to the needs, goals, and expectations of the students, the society, and the workforce. It ensures that what is being taught in educational institutions is directly related to real-world situations and the evolving needs of the students and society. Curriculum relevance is essential for ensuring that education serves its purpose in preparing individuals for success in various aspects of life, from personal development to career readiness and societal contributions. It should be a dynamic and evolving concept that adapts to the changing needs and goals of both individuals and society as a whole.
This study will focus on assessing if the existing curriculum is effective especially for the career and the current job market. It will show whether or not the curriculum prepares the students equipping them with practical skills and knowledge that makes competitive and adaptable in the workforce.
It will also show how successful the product (beneficiaries) of the current curriculum are in the highly evolving socio-economic society, this will include how they are suited to understand different cultures and global perspectives, prepared to work and interact in a diverse and interconnected world.
This study seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the relevance of the existing curriculum in Kenya. The results may guide and propose recommendations for curriculum improvement and alignment with industry needs.
